There are places that touch us. Buildings that are more than just architecture. They are works of art, symbols, memories - and sometimes an invitation to enjoy the moment. The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg is one such place. It has a very special aura, especially in winter, when the cool air sharpens the contours and bathes the city in a quiet, magical light.
At the end of 2024, I was able to be part of a wonderful campaign that captured exactly this winter magic of the Elbphilharmonie . A photo that came from my camera - taken on a cold winter morning at sunrise - was bought by the Elbphilharmonie and found its way to the hearts of 2,000 people. As a Christmas greeting from the Friends of the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle, it was sent to members as a postcard. What a thought: My picture, this captured piece of Hamburg, in the hands of people who love and appreciate the Elbphilharmonie.

The moment I took this photo was magical. It was one of those rare mornings when the sky was lit up with the delicate pastel shades of sunrise, while the frosty winter air wrapped the trees in a hint of hoarfrost. The Elbphilharmonie towered proudly and elegantly over a white fairytale landscape, as if it was embracing the city and welcoming the new day. The gentle glow of the first rays of sun gave the moment an almost unreal beauty - a combination of silence, light and majestic architecture.
I wanted to capture this moment to share it with others. To show that even in the coldest season, warmth can be found - in the light, in the music, in the architecture. It fills me with joy that this image has now become part of a festive greeting that brings hope, connection and inspiration to the world.
The Elbphilharmonie is not just a place for music lovers, but a symbol of the power of culture and community. Especially during the Christmas season, it reminds us how important it is to come together, share moments and appreciate the beauty around us.
When I think of the people who received my photo as a postcard, I hope that they pause when they look at the picture. That they feel the magic that I felt when I stood there. Perhaps some of them put the photo in their home, sent it to a loved one or simply kept it for themselves - as a small reminder of the quiet splendor of winter and the timeless beauty of the Elbphilharmonie.
I am grateful for this opportunity to share a piece of my passion with others and proud that my photo could become something that touches other people. It shows that art - whether music, photography or architecture - is a universal language that connects us, especially during the Christmas season.
For me, this experience remains a highlight of the year. It is a reminder of why I do what I do. And it is an invitation to keep looking, to discover the beauty in the details and to share it with others.
The Elbphilharmonie in winter – an image, a feeling, a white fairytale landscape. And for 2,000 people this year, a piece of Christmas magic that brings hope and joy. A small contribution to something bigger.
